The core ethos and approach of the programme are centred on the idea that teachers are the experts in education. Vital's role is to support teachers in extending and sharing their expertise, and ultimately re-taking ownership of teaching as a discipline. The cost?  Well worth a look. Learn more about VITAL:

Recent headline figures about youth unemployment are, as many commentators have said, truly shocking, and bound to add to the inevitable apprehension felt by students about their prospects in the  job market, both early on, and at later, up to graduate level. The number of 16 to 24-year-olds looking for work rose to a record
1.02m, prompting fears that a ‘lost generation’ of young job seekers was in danger of being scarred in the long term by their initial negative experience of the jobs market. So how do students learn the sort of skills and gain the sort of experiences that give them an insight into work? How do schools and colleges prepare them, or boost their chances of being ready for a world where every skill counts? In the past there was always the Work Experience programme for two weeks in every students Key Stage 4 curriculum.  There was........ In the last 12 months Schools discovered that previously funded work placement schemes are no longer provided ‘for free’ by their Local Authorities. For schools this sudden removal of funding has come after they set their budgets in what has been a very uncertain year. Schools are now left in a very unenviable position. If they can find funds to allow students to undertake work experience, what other part of school life suffers? ExcellentUK Enterprises will be a new name to most schools - but not if your students have had the opportunity of working or training placements in the past.  ExcellentUK has been quietly providing quality student placements for the last 6-7 years in the Blackpool area.  We want this to continue and to grow.

Public Sector Blog

The challenges of the modern Council are always changing, always looking to be more efficient, to keep costs in control, to deliver BETTER SERVICES and to make ICT work for the customers and the Staff.   May Council and Public organisations are caught in a trap of old technology, the need to spend less but also the need to do more.  Sometimes the old simply costs more to maintain, and it certainly leaves the services open to more threats and less opportunities brought by modern technologies. If you want to Learn more about new technology, and what it can offer to enhance you services, why not arrange a chat?  Areas growing in popularity are being adopted because needs are being identified - Open Source, 'Bring You Own Technology' (BYO), Virtualisation, Ultrabook and tablet technology to satisfy agile requirements, and the adoption of Smart-phones. Do you need expertise in new platforms such as iPad and iPod?  Wondering how to get involved?
John Rudkin is an educator with broad experience of public and commercial ICT, of teaching, training, and is an internationally recognised Apple Distinguished Educator.

Special Needs Blog

The harsh cuts being made to LEA services are having a distinct effect on the way that students with Special Needs are being catered for. In order to maintain many programmes, the idea that schools need to scramble around to find support is hardly ideal. John Rudkin, an Apple Distinguished Educator has had significant experience at working with challenged groups and learners, and can bring a wealth of that experience to your school.  The central theme to his work is the advantages that the right ICT can bring to stimulating and encouraging creative and progressive gains into a learners life.  If you want to look into what can be done - cost effectively, just contact

3rd Sector

John Rudkin was at the forefront of developing "e" initiatives in Blackpool over the last 8 years.  Working with partnerships from within the community, John worked with numerous representatives of community and semi-professional groups making inroads into formal service provisions.  Throughout that time, initiatives have come and gone - but the Government want the third sector to stand on its capacity to deliver 'close to customer' services without the need for constant and variable support from Councils.  John can help you, assist with your Infrastructure Developments, and ensure your path to stability and sustainability means that your organisation can compete in the world of business.  Call or eMail.
